Support for anyone whose relationship with food or their body has gotten complicated — including those navigating GLP-1 medications and the feelings no prescriber warned them about. This is not eating disorder treatment. It’s a place to sort out what’s changing, with someone who understands the nervous system underneath it.
Your relationship with your body is a relationship — and like any relationship, it carries history. Diet cycles that started in adolescence. Comments you never forgot. The quiet math of every meal. When your body changes — through medication, age, illness, or life — all of that history gets stirred up at once.
In this work we slow that down. Drawing on NARM® and the principles and methods of Somatic Experiencing®, we look at where food and body became tangled up with safety, worth, and control — and we help your nervous system find a steadier way to live in the body you have, as it is and as it changes. I’m also an affiliated therapist with Peace with Food, which shapes how I approach eating: with curiosity and compassion, never rules and shame.
GLP-1 medications change bodies quickly — often faster than the mind can keep up. People describe strange grief for a body they spent years wanting to change, identity whiplash when the mirror stops matching the self-image, food losing its old role as comfort or reward, and complicated reactions from partners, friends, and family. None of that means something is wrong with you. It means a major change happened and the feelings part was never part of the prescription. That’s the part we work on.
This is not eating disorder treatment. If you’re in active anorexia, bulimia, or another eating disorder that needs specialized or medical care, the right first step is an eating disorder program — and I’m glad to help point you toward good resources in the Cleveland area. If you’re medically stable and working on the relationship side — body image, food guilt, the feelings underneath the patterns — that’s exactly what this is for.
